Bio-Resources Development Centre (BRDC), Planning Department, Govt. of Meghalaya as the nodal agency for organic certification in Meghalaya has created the Meghalaya State Organic Certification Body (MSOCB) on December 2023 vide notification No.PLA.6/2014/255 dated 21.12.2023 which shall function as full autonomy for the certification activities as per NPOP standard guidelines.
MSOCB intends to provide NPOP certification through an institutional mechanism for the implementation of National Standard for Organic Production to its registered farms, group of organic farmers (ICS), commercial organic traders/exporters, small, medium, and large-scale organic crop production, wild collection etc.
The MSOCB is under the process for obtaining the accreditation as a Certification Body as per NPOP under APEDA, Ministry of Commerce & Industries, Government of India.
